Nudie probiotic smoothie

Here we will give a hands-on, taste-tested review of Nudie probiotic smoothie. We’ll look into the benefits, ingredients, nutrition and flavour of this probiotic juice which your gut will love.

For this review we have taste-tested the strawberry, raspberry, pear, orange and banana version.

Nudie probiotic smoothie is available in Woolworths and some other food stores in Australia.

Ingredients of Nudie probiotic smoothie

As I’ve come to expect from Nudie products (see our best gut health shots in Australia article), they only use clean ingredients.

Specifically this probiotic juice contains: pear juice (44%), banana puree (24%), strawberry puree (15%), orange juice (12%), raspberry puree (5%), vitamin C and probiotics.

So there’s no questionable additives like sweeteners, flavourings or preservatives.

Benefits of Nudie probiotic smoothie

This probiotic juice comes with various health benefits, particularly related to its probiotics (ie live beneficial microbes) and the nutrients in the various juices and purees.

Probiotics

The smoothie contains the probiotic Bacillus coagulans. Unlike many other probiotics, it forms resilient spores which allows it to survive extreme conditions such as high heat, acidity and long storage times. This means it is very effective at delivering live bacteria to your gut!

In terms of the actual amount of bacteria present, there is a minimum of 80 million cultures per 250ml (when it has been stored cold). For comparison, this is a lot less than Emma & Tom’s probiotic smoothie which has one billion colony forming units per 350ml.

Nutrients

The various juices and purees contain a lot of vitamins and minerals for your body.

  • Pear juice: Rich in vitamins C and K, antioxidants, and fibre, supporting digestion and immune health.

  • Banana puree: High in potassium and vitamin B6, supporting energy production and promoting heart health.

  • Strawberry puree: Packed with vitamin C, manganese and antioxidants, helping to reduce inflammation and boost skin health.

  • Orange juice: A great source of vitamin C, promoting immunity and collagen production.

  • Raspberry puree: Contains antioxidants, fibre and vitamin C, supporting heart health and digestion.

  • Vitamin C: Strengthens the immune system, promotes collagen production and fights free radicals.

And a bottle of this smoothie contains three servings of fruit.

Antioxidants

Various ingredients including the pear juice, strawberry puree, orange juice, raspberry puree and the vitamin C are high in antioxidants which help your body fight off harmful free radicals and reduce inflammation.

Nudie probiotic smoothie in a glass

Appearance

It has a murky grey, dull pink colour - sort of like dissolved chalk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Texture

As expected for a smoothie, it has a very thick and lovely mouthfeel.

Flavour

The aroma is vibrant and mainly of banana and pear.

The taste is lovely and fresh with a broad spectrum fruitiness. It mainly has a banana base with some orange and raspberry poking through. It isn’t overly sweet either.

Overall, the taste is great - vibrant, fresh, balanced and natural.

Cost of Nudie probiotic smoothie

You can buy a 400ml bottle for $4.50 in Woolworths.
